Overview

As a Project Manager at EPOSD, you will oversee fire alarm, fire suppression, and fire extinguisher installation projects from initiation to completion. This role requires strong leadership, organization, and communication skills to ensure projects are executed efficiently, on time, and within budget. You will coordinate with technicians, clients, and vendors to manage scope, schedules, and compliance with NFPA standards and local regulations.

This role is specifically for the New Installation Department and does not include inspections or service work.

 

Job Duties

Project Planning & Coordination

  • Review project specifications, plans, and requirements to ensure clarity and compliance.

  • Develop project schedules, assign tasks, and allocate resources accordingly.

  • Coordinate with clients, engineers, and field technicians to ensure smooth execution.

  • Ensure necessary permits, approvals, and materials are obtained before work begins

 

Fire Alarm Installation Management

  • Oversee fire alarm system installations in new construction and retrofit projects.

  • Ensure compliance with NFPA 72, local codes, and industry best practices.

  • Coordinate programming, testing, and final commissioning of fire alarm control panels.

  • Manage scope changes, delays, and necessary modifications during installations.

 

Fire Suppression Installation Management

  • Supervise the installation of fire suppression systems in new construction and retrofits.

  • Ensure compliance with NFPA 17, 17A, and 2001 installation standards.

  • Oversee material procurement, installation schedules, and compliance documentation.

  • Address technical challenges and provide solutions for efficient project execution.

 

Fire Extinguisher Installation Management

  • Ensure proper placement and installation of portable fire extinguishers in new buildings.

  • Verify compliance with NFPA 10 and client-specific fire protection needs.

  • Coordinate with installation crews to meet project deadlines.

 

Budgeting & Cost Control

  • Develop project budgets and monitor expenses to prevent cost overruns.

  • Approve purchase orders and ensure materials are procured cost-effectively.

  • Identify and implement cost-saving measures while maintaining quality.

 

Team Leadership & Supervision

  • Provide direction and support to field technicians and subcontractors.

  • Ensure all team members understand project goals, expectations, and deadlines.

  • Conduct regular job site visits to assess progress and address concerns.

  • Train and mentor apprentices and junior technicians on new installation projects.

 

Compliance, Safety, & Quality Control

  • Ensure all installation work complies with NFPA codes, OSHA regulations, and local building codes.

  • Enforce job site safety protocols and conduct risk assessments.

  • Review completed work for quality assurance and compliance before final project handover.

 

Client, Vendor, and Internal Team Communication

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, keeping them informed of progress.

  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials.

  • Work closely with the design, engineering, and sales teams to ensure project goals align with client expectations.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry 50+ lbs. regularly

  • Comfortable working on ladders, scaffolding, and lifts

  • Ability to work in commercial, industrial, and outdoor environments

 

Other Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends as needed

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with team members, clients, and inspectors

  • Must be reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented

  • Must be willing to travel in and out of sate as needed
